Leads with Love & Curiosity for the Sacred Whole

Welcome to Integrated Yoga Anatomy (IYA) where an inspiring, integrated, and more expansive understanding of the human body, its potential, limitations, and healing ability are realized. Yoga teachers who are inspired by the body (the sacred whole, not just the physical), can connect their outer movements to the inner movements, and can integrate the reflections of yoga philosophy to their own body are profound teachers who can create safe, effective and inspiring classes.

Integrated Yoga Anatomy (IYA) is Haunani's signature yoga anatomy manual and curriculum specifically created for Yoga Teacher Trainings (YTT 200hr or 300hr). IYA is constantly evolving and incorporates over 20 years of study, application, and instruction in the topics of bio-medicine (anatomy, physiology, kinesiology, pathology) and Asian Medicine (anatomy, physiology, Yoga & Samkhya philosophy,  asana, Ayurveda, and Chinese Medicine).

Due to the increase of yoga asana related injuries Haunani was seeing in her Acupuncture clinic, she was motivated to create positive change.  As a licensed healthcare provider who believes Yoga is powerful medicine, Haunani created a more comprehensive yoga anatomy curriculum that inspires yoga educators to realize the human potential from the inside-out in easy-to-understand ways so teachers can apply their knowledge immediately to their own practice, life and students.

Haunani uses visual, auditory, and kinesthetic instruction to meet the needs of different learning styles found within a training.  Creating fun and memorable explorations into the human body and its wholeness, students don't just learn anatomy, they begin to embody, have huge a-ha moments, and apply the knowledge immediately.

Why choose IYA?

Because IYA keeps yoga anatomy connected to the sacredness of Yoga teachings.

IYA was born in 2011 out of a need -- the need to improve the yoga anatomy education in Yoga Teacher Trainings (YTT).  As an anatomy geek, Haunani always looked forward to studying yoga anatomy.  Unfortunately YTT after YTT, she found herself underwhelmed.  She recognized a massive gap between yoga anatomy education and the future of yoga as a healing modality in the U.S.  As she mentored more and more YTT students and began seeing more injuries in her Acupuncture clinic, Haunani's pitta nature was ignited.  Coupling her undergraduate background in pre-med, sports medicine, and athletic training with her post-graduate studies in Chinese Medicine and Ayurveda, Integrated Yoga Anatomy was born.

IYA integrates the anatomy basics of modern bio-medicine and Asian medicine to the sacred practices of Yoga.  Keeping the divine wholeness of body, mind, and spirit at the core, Haunani's focus is to educate, empower, and inspire students to find deeper understanding, awareness, mindfulness, and connection in their own bodies. She encourages self-exploration as she moves through the topics.  During IYA it is common for students to have moments of realization and deep healing.  By deepening their relationship with their own body, they can begin to appreciate every-body while maintaining safety and effectiveness in the classes they facilitate.

Haunani's passion for modern bio-medicine and Asian medicine, anatomy, physiology, all things yoga comes through in this manual and her engaging workshops.  Whether you use IYA for your own personal learning journey or collaborate with Haunani as a guest instructor, you will be awe'd at her ability to bring the unconscious to the conscious so that healing, awakening, and liberation can occur.

FAQs

Why work with Haunani?

...because you want to inspire healing from the inside out.
No body, no asana.  No breath, no practice.  The body reveals everything.  IYA leads with love, devotion, and curiosity of the whole body.

...because you want to create an empowering team.
Your intention and vision is to create and deliver an amazing YTT to your community.  I get it.  I've been there too.  Let your YTT stand out even in the anatomy section.

...because you know the healing power of Yoga.
And so does Haunani.  It's her passion and commitment to provide the most up to date, researched, and clinically tested Integrated Yoga Anatomy curriculum to your YTT.

I have never taken anatomy before, will I be able to follow?

Yes!  That's the whole point.  Many people have not studied the human body.  I will break it down to the basics so you can apply this to your life immediately.

I took yoga anatomy in my 200 hour Yoga Teacher Training, will I learn anything new?

It depends on how much you know about the human anatomy, Yoga, Ayurveda, and Chinese Medicine. If you are looking for a refresher course that adds a little more Asian Medicine, then this will be a great fit.  If you want to just deep dive into the nitty-gritty of bio-medicine only, this may not be the training for you.

Am I able to use the manual in my own trainings after this course?

If you are a yoga teacher or affiliated with a training program, please contact Haunani.  In some cases she will consider selling the use of this manual for your own Yoga Teacher Training.  Because the content integrates Ayurveda and aspects of Chinese Medicine, many teachers will find it challenging to teach from.
